My wife brought me here for dinner one night after a long day of work in Wilmington. These sandwiches are delicious and hearty. They were super flavorful and priced fairly.
I got the porchetta which was amazing. The only flaw with the sandwich was that it was too much food.
My wife got the meatball sub, which I tied. Also very good. Sauce could use some depth, but the meatballs were A+. For the price and volume of food this place is great.
One note, finding it in Trolly Square was a real pain. I never would have found it without my wife guiding me there. -

The Italian hoagie is one of the best I've ever had! This comes from someone who grew up in South Philly, the land of amazing Italian hoagies. Just the right amount of meat vs other stuff and the aged provolone is righteously stinky!
Whaddya waiting for, an invitation? Get yer butt down to Gaudiello's and talk to Eric. He'll hook you up.
I'm am off to try their cheesesteak so I'll update later. -

This is the best sandwich place in Delaware.
Let me elaborate. They have 10 sandwiches, all of them are $10, and I've had every single one. They are all excellent.
SPECIAL ITALIAN: My absolute favorite sandwich they make. They have a special order to the toppings if you order it exactly how they have it off their site. On a sub roll, they put a layer of Italian meats on the bottom, toppings in the middle, and finish with meat on top to wrap it all together. A perfect order.
MEATBALL: A heavy meatball. Not only are the meatballs excellent, but the sauce is spiced nicely, and the provolone with garlic ricotta spread changed meatball subs for me. I no longer want a huge chunk of mozzarella on top of my meatball subs, I want that flavorful cheese!
CHICKEN STEAK FLORENTINE: The Olive Oil and Basil Mayo bring his together. Better than any chicken cheese steak I've every had.
TURKEY: An actual Mountain of Turkey. If you finish this in a sitting, you feel like you climbed a mountain too. Also their bacon is next level good, and then they combine that with Gouda cheese. Wow.
CUBAN: I thought mayo would ruin a cuban but I am so wrong, Chipotle Mayo is where it's at. Eat this hot off the grill, my friends will blink when I get this and it will be gone.
CHEESE STEAK: Classic cheese steak? Can't go wrong with this choice. they will substitute cheese on your request, but will give you a look if you ask for cheese wiz.
COLD CORNED BEEF SPECIAL: 'nother mountain of meat. This cold reuben is an excellent meal before your after-lunch nap. Their homemade Thousand Island dressing is excellent too.
PORCHETTA: It's hard to compare with Ioannis porketta, but this is a damn good sandwich. That red pepper rosemary aioli changes the game.
ROAST BEEF: Thicc Bacon n' Beef. A winning combo. I do wish they had some kind of horseradish sauce for this, because I'm an South Carolina boy, and we put blue cheese on damn near everything.
BLT AND P: That Thicc Bacon again, Tomatoes, Lettuce, some sweet-hot peppadews, and avacado aioli. They aioli and the peppadews work together on this one to hit the flavor groups: sweet, hot, tart, and bacon
10/10 would give all my money for a sandwich shop. -

When I discovered Gaudiello's a few years back, I fell in love with their classic Italian hoagie. However, at that time, I didn't love their hours so much --- I tended to work fairly late most weeknights, and usually they weren't an option by the time I was looking to get dinner, and so I slowly began to overlook them.
Fast forward to now --- I can't believe it took me this long to put Gaudiello's back on my radar, especially with the whole revamped menu! We wandered in to grab lunch on a Saturday about two weeks ago and already found ourselves going back a second time to try another sandwich. So far, I've had the Italian and the Chicken Florentine (chicken cheesesteak with provolone cheese, roasted tomatoes, and spinach) and both were flavorful and delicious.
You can order just a sandwich for $10 or a meal with chips and a drink for $13.50 (or you can upgrade to mac and cheese for a small surcharge). The sandwich is large enough to share unless you've got a particularly large appetite. There's a few tables if you want to eat in, but I think a lot of people tend to get their food to go (which is what we've always done).
Service was quite personable --- when BF and I disagreed on the addition of sweet vs hot peppers on our shared Italian sub, he quickly volunteered to give us peppers on the side, laughing that "compromise is key!"
Looking forward to supporting a great local business and trying more of the incredible sandwiches! -

Six stars? If only I could. Hands-down the best hoagie shop I've ever been to (though making a pilgrimage to Williamsport is still on my list).
As any hoagie fan knows, it starts with the bread, and the bread here (imported daily from a bakery in Jersey) is on a transcendent level. The sandwiches are then elevated with a myriad of house-cut meats and house-made sauces and simple but excellently done dressings.
We tried the Italian (have to; it's what defines the hoagie genre) and a cheesesteak. The Italian was over the top--thick and meaty and flavorful and fresh and of course served on that chewy and pillowy bread. The cheesesteak redefined cheesesteaks for me: all the others I've ever had (though I won't cut my beloved Jim's out of my life quite yet) are child's play in comparison, and this is a cheesesteak for grown-ups. The basted and roasted rosemary onions punch through the heavy meat and cheese, and the Cremini mushrooms from Kennett Square add just a touch of piquancy. And while I'm still a provolone man when it comes to my cheesesteaks, I agreed with his suggestion to sub his smoked Gouda fondue for the default American, and man, am I glad I had a chance to try that.
No pics, unfortunately, because it was so incredible that it was gone before I realized I hadn't taken any shots. You'll just have to come try it yourself! I'll be back on my very next visit through to try all of his other sandwiches!
